Tuning in to vegans
Vegans would welcome a vegan TV programme, with cookery shows, product reviews and animal welfare issues featuring strongly on the wish list. Vegans would also like a better deal when eating out, with 9 out of 10 UK vegans saying that they are poorly catered for in restaurants.

Cooking up a storm
Vegan men are more confident in the kitchen than their non-vegan peers. Vegans own more cookbooks and refer to recipes more frequently. As well as in the kitchen, you will find vegans in all sorts of jobs including hydrochemistry, palaeoecology and weather forecasting.

What's in it for vegans?
There is a high awareness of the Vegan Society trademark amongst vegans, with the vast majority of UK vegans having bought trademarked products. 9 out of 10 vegans want to see all genetically modified food clearly labelled - so that they can avoid it!

But what do vegans EAT?
1 in 2 vegans will be sitting down to a nut roast or turkey substitute this Christmas, complete with roasted vegetables and all the trimmings. And as for the rest? They will be tucking into everything from Chinese to curry... and chips!

"Government fiddles while cattle burn"
4 out of 5 vegans are unhappy with the foot and mouth coverage by the media, but a significant number know someone who has gone vegetarian or vegan as a direct result of the outbreak.

All I want for Christmas
9 out of 10 vegans are given non-vegan presents by people who know about their diet/ethics. As well as better product labelling, most vegans would really like vegan shoes, cookbooks and chocolates.

Virtual vegans
Vegans are more likely to buy products over the internet than the general population. 73% of UK vegans on the internet have bought online - around twice the national average.
