Ethical policy

Imaner Consultants is an ethically-run business. We strive to reflect our personal ethics in our business, starting with our own ethical policy:

“Imaner Consultants is a vegan-run organisation which aims to do business in a manner that does not exploit people, animals or the environment.”

An ethical web

Imaner has signed up to the Green Computing Charter, which covers areas such as reducing power consumption, minimising unneccessary printing and disposing of old hardware responsibly. Our old computer equipment is reconditioned through Airedale Computer Recycling. This is a community project to train long-term unemployed people to refurbish computers for resale.

As ethical web designers, making the web accessible to people with disabilities is an important issue and we work to the W3C accessibility guidelines.

The wider environment

Our office is powered by 100% renewable electricity from Ovo Energy.

We operate a paper re-use and recycling scheme and compost all compostable material. Printer cartridges are recycled for charity. We support Fairtrade and serve Fairtrade tea and coffee at meetings in our home office in Leeds (a Fairtrade city, see www.fairtradeleeds.org.uk).

Imaner banks with the Co-operative Bank who have strong ethical policies, including those covering the arms trade, human rights and animal welfare. We are also members of the broader Co-operative Group.

Professional ethics

As members of Ethical Junction since its inception we believe in treating both our clients and suppliers fairly. We positively discriminate in favour of equal opportunities for women.

We are members of our relevant professional bodies, including the Chartered Society of Designers and the Institution of Analysts & Programmers, and as such are guided by professional ethics. For a full list see links.

Supporting our community

Our offices are vegan and we run two vegan community projects - the Vegan Village and the Vegan Research Panel.

We have always sought to work with like-minded people and organisations, and these have included many innovative leaders: Animal Aid, Dr Hadwen Trust, Robin Keyte, the Ethical Investors Group, Animal Aid's Ethical Shop, Ethical Wares, Plamil Foods, the Vegan Organic Network, Veggie Vision and Vegan Store.
